Big Boy Bed

The other morning, I woke up and rolled over and found myself staring straight into Jack's face beside my bed. Obviously, since he still sleeps in a crib, next to my bed first thing in the morning is NOT the place he should be.

It became quite a common occurrence, and sometimes, he would even crawl out of his crib moments after I put him down to bed and scare the heck out of me in the living room. After a couple weeks of this, it was clearly time to get him out of the crib, since his climbing over it repeatedly couldn't possibly be safe.

I conferred with his Daddy and we shopped online together for beds and decided on one that would get him through at least junior high. :) I think it's funny that while having this conversation about buying our 2 year old a bed, we both made a point of saying we each slept in a twin bed until after we graduated high school. Like we were choosing the bed Jack will sleep in for the next 17 years. Yeah, right.

In any case, it was delivered the today and Nana and Deeda came over today to help me put it up in his room for him.
He was VERY excited and immediately told us that these were train tracks. Go figure...
It was no time before he was jumping all over the thing, of course.
And practicing covering up!

I thought it would be a huge challenge, but incredibly, he napped in it the very same day!

To ease the transition, I left his crib up in his room for a few days. The first night, he was excited to get into the big boy bed, but he asked later to sleep in the crib, so I let him. The next night though, he was ready to move on to the big boy bed for good and told me that his crib was for babies and that he wasn't a baby. He transitioned right over, and I didn't even have a problem with him getting out of the bed at night at all. Mornings are a different story!
